Shave or Dye for Cancer Research

Today FM Shave or Dye 2012

A number of the school’s staff and two of our parents are participating in Shave or Dye, a Today FM fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society.

The participants will be transformed by Kieran and Sharon from ”Kieran James” in Swords, on next Thursday evening and will be strutting their stuff in school on Friday. (March 2nd)

This is personal fundraising for those involved.  However, if anybody intends to, or would like to, support this cause there will be buckets in the school on Friday for donations, however small.  Alternatively donations can be made via www.mycharity.ie/event/dpetnsshaveordye

So far the official “shavers” and “dyeers” are:
Maeve, Colm, Patrick, Ann, Micheál, Hayley Colloty and Anthony Moore. (possibly more)

Many other staff members intend coming to school on Friday with “alternative hairstyles”!

If you want a photograph that you can use against people for the rest of their lives it would be an idea to bring a camera to the yard on Friday morning!

To harness the fun element in school, Friday March 2nd will be a CRAZY HAIR DAY for any child, or adult who would like to join in the fun.

If anyone else is planning to take part, you are more than welcome to join us.

Credit Union Quiz

about:blank

Every year the children from 4th , 5th and 6th classes take part in the Credit Union Quiz competing against the children from St Patrick’s Boys NS and Scoil Phadraic Cailíní.

This year we entered four teams, two in the Junior Section and two in the Senior Section. We were very proud to host the quiz here in our school hall on Monday 6th February. The children from all three schools entered into the spirit of the occasion and showed great general knowledge and terrific sportsmanship.

Two teams were chosen to represent Donabate in the next round of the competition.  We are very proud that one of our teams won the Junior Section and will proudly represent Donabate  at North County Dublin level.   The winners each received a  €20 voucher and a trophy, the school were also presented with a trophy.

Well done to all who took part and we wish our winning team every success in the next stage of the competition.

The Year Of The Dragon

Equality and Justice
We have had a very busy start to the New Year in DPETNS.

We have been learning about different celebrations held around the world in January; for example Martin Luther King Day, Chinese New Year and Australia Day.  Scoilnet's website has some interesting information about worldwide festivals.

Senior Infants have prepared some beautiful art to illustrate the life and work of Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
Have a look at our Equality and Justice page to see their work.
