Aistear

The children in both Junior and Senior Infants engage in Aistear as part of their daily learning activities. In our school we call it ‘Imaginative Play’. It is, station-based, explorative play which enables the children to develop a range of skills. They learn co-operative play, flexibility, problem solving skills and critical thinking all through the medium of play. It is a fun child-centred approach to learning which the children look forward to each day. The student’s play includes themed ‘home-corners’ such as the Doctor’s Surgery, The Farm, The Campsite, The Airport etc. They embrace sand and water play, construction activities, board games, designing and making, junk art and a wide range of other play orientated games
