World Book Day 2020

Thursday March 5th 2020 is World Book Day and this year the focus is on sharing stories.

Unfortunately reading for pleasure is on the decline. Did you know that
: only 29% of children (0-13) read for pleasure daily?
: only 56% of 3-4 year olds are read to by their guardians/parents daily or nearly daily?
: fewer than 19% of 8-10 year olds are read to daily or nearly every day?
Let’s use this World Book Day to celebrate and promote a love of reading. Here is a list of popular books, as recommended by Children’s Books Ireland (CBI). CBI Recommended Reads
Students will be engaging in a variety of activities to mark this day, from reading with their buddies to sharing their favourite books with their classmates.
We also have a competition running in school and would love students to get involved.
